DESCRIPTION
Clue is looking for a CTO to join the engineering department and be the technical voice on the Executive Management team. As the Head of an engineering group consisting of 25+ engineers, Technical Leads and three Engineering Managers, you will drive all executive decisions with regards to the technological interest of the company and make sure that our engineering resources are aligned with the company’s business needs.

Historically having followed an offline-first approach, Clue is at an interesting tipping point, where more and more of our business logic is created in the backend and a stronger emphasis will be set on creating a scalable microservice architecture that supports our 13 Million monthly active users, with the long term vision of scaling this number to three digits.

ROLE
- Define the technical vision for Clue
- Lead a team of 25+ engineers, translating the executive vision for the company into execution
- Collaborate closely with the CPO on driving a product strategy that caters to business needs while preparing our architecture to last
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders, contractors and partners, defining goals and ensuring accountability
- Build a strong engineering brand external, and an empowering culture internal together with the Engineering Managers
- Identify indicators for the engineering group, enable teams to move the needle on important KPIs
- Provide you technical expertise when needed but be comfortable with staying hands-off
- Know when to build smart for scalability, quality, and excellence and when to build fast for learning and iteration
ABOUT YOU
- You have experience recruiting, managing, coaching and developing engineers of various skillsets at all stages of their careers
- You champion diversity and inclusivity, and you are aware of unconscious bias
- You have experience architecting data-driven and scalable infrastructure for mobile applications used by millions of users
- You have worked in high-change, fast-paced start-up environments
- You’ve led agile and iterative teams and leveraged experimentation and iterative development
- You have worked in a company in a regulated industry giving you a good sense of how to keep an engineering team both agile and compliant with quality management processes
