The BI Analyst role will define, design, develop, test, analyze, and maintain actionable intelligence solutions for all Progenity’s key stakeholders in finance, operations, sales, marketing, science, and clinical disciplines.  The BI Analyst is required to collaborate with these stakeholders by thoroughly understanding their data needs and building the appropriate solutions based on their requirements.  This position will work closely with all members of the BI Team to ensure proposed solutions maintain the architectural integrity of the entire BI stack, which includes backend data structures, ETLs from source systems, data quality, and information delivery via analytical tools.  The BI Analyst will be required to build proper documentation and data quality rules that meet our Quality, Audit, and Data Governance standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determines solution requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, workflows and dataflows.
  • Responsible for producing succinct and thorough documentation of business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
  • Design and develop analytical solutions that meet requirements outlined by the user that are also fully compliant with Progenity’s standards.
  • Documents all business rules and data definition for technical support and customer use.
  • Prepares users for success by conducting training and on-going learning sessions.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Collaborates with BI Architects and Analysts in conceptualizing and developing new analytical solutions that provide actionable intelligence for Progenity’s users.
  • Analyzes and assesses existing business systems and procedures, focusing on opportunities where data and analytics can improve operational efficiencies.
  • Assists in defining analytical development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Provides thorough analysis and proper documentation that enhances our Data Governance program.
  • Designs and develop appropriate data quality rules that provides a high level of data trust with our end users.
  • Liaises with other IT resources in ensuring all systems meet operational and data SLAs.
  • Writes code and configures all databases and analytical tools according to specifications.
  • Designs, runs and monitors tests on new and existing solutions for the purposes of data quality, data lineage, performance improvement, and general debugging.
  • Generates statistics for management and team members regarding performance and usage of actionable intelligence solutions.
  • Develops and maintains training materials that assist users in navigating data and presentation layers
  • Trains IT personnel to provide Tier 1 support for all BI solutions.
  • Installs and configures software/tools as required.
  • Provides guidance to department specific analysts on leveraging technology to effectively analyze data.
  • Designs analytical solutions and processes that comply with all IT CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, Hitech and SOX compliance regulations.
  • Complies with the Progenity’s Polices/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations, including CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, Hitech and SOX

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Extensive experience in developing business intelligence solutions for a diverse collection of customers.
  • Extensive experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, data problems, and/or usability issues.
  • Excellent coding and development skills with T-SQL.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, reporting, dashboards, and data visualization tools.
  • Hands-on experience working with customers in co-developing test cases, test plans, and data quality rules
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Flexible and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Highly self motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • 2+ years progressively complex information systems experience.
  • 1+ year lab or healthcare industry experience.
