The Network Engineer will design and support critical aspects of an enterprise-wide Cisco network to include layer 2 and 3 administration, VOIP telephony services, and provide level 2 help desk support. Primary focus on network infrastructure, however, responsibilities could extend over to server based systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures the availability and scale of an enterprise Cisco network.

Designs, configure, and maintain networking routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, etc.

Familiarity with routing, switching, subnetting and bridging in LAN, WAN, VPN environments, access methods, and network topologies is essential.

Responds to requests for technical assistance by phone, email and/or using a service desk management system.

Ensures that network security meets PCI and HIPAA standards.

Maintains telephony services on a Cisco CallManager environment.

Tracks issues to resolution updating the internal knowledgebase and/or communicating findings with relevant business units.

Documents network and system diagrams, process flow diagrams, and backup/recovery procedures.

Researches and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.

Plans and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.

Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.

Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.

Trains staff by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.

Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Relevant Computer Certificate preferred (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE).

5+ years of IT experience, including servers, workstations, network, storage, etc.

5+ years of experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, etc.

VPN, MPLS, VoIP, DMVPN, DNS, BGP, EIGRP, Radius, ASA 5500, SMTP, Wireless experience required.

Experience working with Microsoft Windows based systems required.

Previous laboratory experience preferred.

Strong communication skills.
