The Finance team at Maven is growing and we are looking for our first Controller to manage the Accounting organization and lead key Finance processes. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations, including the month, quarter, and year-end close processes. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building from the ground up, finds opportunity for process improvements and automation, and drives controls and accuracy.

As the Controller at Maven, you will: 

  • Lead all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Serve as the company’s expert on accounting matters, partnering with other departments (Operations, Sales, IT, HR, among others) on structuring policies, and advising with respect to accounting and tax implications
  • Lead the monthly consolidated close process, bringing new ideas and designing ways to make the process efficient
  • Have deep understanding of GAAP, including revenue recognition and lease accounting
  • Help drive operational efficiencies through system implementations and development of process improvements and new policies
  • Develop and operationalize a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk
  • Hire, lead, and coach a high performance Accounting team that scales with the business

We’re looking for you to bring: 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience with audit or accounting, including 5+ years of in-house accounting experience and 2+ years of management experience
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • BA/BS in accounting and CPA certification required
  • Strong project management ability, with the ability to act as primary owner of individual projects, analysis and process while working cross functionally
  • Experience with systems and software implementation preferred
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax
  • Experience with early stage, high growth SaaS or subscription-based business models and/or healthcare industry preferred
