Pioneering smarter technology for women.

Description

Life at Elvie – Meaningful work. Exceptional people

We develop extraordinary and smart technologies designed to improve the lives of women. It’s a fascinating and challenging area that requires us to solve the problems that no one else has ever tackled before.

Our first product, Elvie Trainer, is an award-winning app-connected trainer that helps women strengthen their pelvic floor muscle via fun, five-minute workouts. It took the wellness industry by storm and is now available via the NHS Supply Chain. Our street cred is backed up by more than 12 awards for innovation and design, including the prestigious Red Dot Award and an IDA Design Award.

Our second innovation: Elvie Pump, the world’s first silent hands-free, wearable breast pump, has received international praise, including being listed as one of the Times 100 best inventions in 2019 and ‘wearable design of the year’ at the Dezeen Awards.

Elvie has received more than 30 awards, including being named one of 15 startups “To Watch” by The Sunday Times and ranked as the 6th fastest growing business in the UK by SyndicateRoom in 2019. Tania Boler has recently been rated as the 8th most influential person shaping british technology in 2019 by Business Insider and both products have been featured in the Oscar Nominee Gift Bags. In April 2019, Elvie announced a $42 million Series B, the largest ever fundraise in Femtech.

How do we like to work?

You will be surrounded by people who want to improve everything and everyone around them. People who are passionate about our mission. People who are driven to solve tough problems and constantly consider the best ways to improve the health and wellbeing of women.

We’re deeply proud of our values, which are intrinsic to the way we behave every day. We take them seriously because we want our culture to thrive:

  • We’re fearless – We tackle taboos and break boundaries, requiring sensitivity and courage.
  • We’re innovators – We are passionate, curious and data-driven. We are constantly learning how to work smarter, faster and better. Always embracing change and innovation.
  • We’re in it together – Together, we are constantly learning, embracing change and seeking innovation, whilst having fun along the way. We stay authentic and embrace our differences.

Who you are

  • You’re a technical project manager with at least 4 years of commercial experience
  • You’ve come from a technical background in hardware or software engineering and discovered your ability to manage a project and bring the team along to deliver on time and on budget (or somewhere close!)
  • You’ve been through the time, spec and cost trenches and have emerged wiser and excited to put your newly learned lessons into practice. You know your project management craft and can support it with judicious use of the right tools and processes to fit the project
  • You’re an initiator. Rather than tell people what to do, you draw attention to actions that must be taken for the project goals to be met
  • You are always looking for ways to improve how you work and how the team works
  • You have experience of working without boundaries, and in fact thrive in environments where you can be instrumental in navigating through the ambiguity to deliver a project
  • The idea of working within a high growth startup in a fast-paced role excites you

What you will do

Manage projects to timelines and budgets

  • Organise the project team: it’s an accomplished team, but they still need pointing in the right direction at the right time
  • Activity and resource planning: work with the team to determine what needs to be done, by who and when
  • Develop the budget: how much? That much
  • Analyze and manage project risk: take a risk based approach and guide the whole project team to focus on the high risk elements of the project and as a result deliver the goods
  • Surface problems early: things don’t always go to plan, but the quicker the problems are identified, the quicker they can be solved
  • Find creative solutions, together: get the right team members talking at the right time to help them get to where they need to be
  • Monitor progress: know where the project is at any moment

Educating, explaining and supporting

  • Provide overviews, or nuanced and detailed analysis of project progress, to both technical and non-technical people to explain outcomes and facilitate decision making
  • Guide the project team through the good times and the bad – help establish meaningful milestones and provide motivation when it’s needed
  • Help the team learn from their successes and their failures with retrospectives
  • Help develop ways of working for your team and the business, based upon the needs of the project and the people you are working with

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of commercial experience as a technical project manager
  • Experience of controlled and dependency based project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, and/or APM PMQ
  • Experience of agile software development and corresponding methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Experience with tools for different styles of project management e.g Jira, Pivotal Tracker, Asana, SmartSheet, MS Project
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience of working with cross functional teams and understanding of the benefit of truly coordinated activities
  • Experience dealing with all the stakeholders on a project from the in-house teams – engineering, finance, sales, operations – to external contractors and senior management
  • Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical with the ability to write reports, present, and discuss results

Note: you must have the right to work in the UK to apply for this role
