In this role, you will be partnering with Pill Club’s affiliated pharmacies and medical groups supporting their day to day operational and compliance needs. As needs change and evolve, you will also support the General Counsel and other Pill Club executives with a variety of legal needs including but not limited to, contracting, regulatory compliance and privacy. As a member of a small team, you will have significant opportunities for growth and professional development. This position reports directly to the General
Counsel and works closely with the Market Access, medical and pharmacy teams
Responsibilities

- Assist in licensure and credentialing for pharmacies and medical groups
- Remotely assist in on-site and document audits
- Develop, plan, organize and execute day-to-day operational compliance activities throughout the organization
- Develop, maintain and enforce policies and procedures to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct
- Review, draft and negotiate supplier, product, technology and partner agreements
- Develop standard contracts, forms and guidance for essential company projects
- Assist with the tactical build-out of the company compliance program
- Assist with legal strategy for the Pill Club affiliated pharmacies’ relationships with payors and pharmacy benefits managers
- Help guide the company’s insurance and pharmacy compliance
- Procure and negotiate contracts with insurance plans, pharmacy benefits managers and pharmacy services administration organizations
Education Requirements
-
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to and in good standing with either the California or Texas bar
Years and Type of Experience/Skills Required
-
- Have at least 5 years of legal experience
- Have prior in-house experience legal experience or law firm experience advising health care or pharmacy entities
- Have experience procuring and negotiating healthcare contracts
- Have experience with assisting a company with internal compliance reviews
- Have experience with healthcare and insurance regulations in multiple states
- Be flexible and be able to adapt and thrive in an environment that is constantly changing with an ability to prioritize and re-prioritize based upon the needs of the business
- Have the ability to make all levels of the company comfortable coming to your for advice
- Be a self-starter with high personal accountability while working well in a team environment
- Be organized, process driven and detail oriented

Additional Experience Preferred
-
- Have in-house experience at a pharmacy, pharmacy benefits manager, health insurance plan or a start-up
- Have experience completing credentialing documents for health plans
- Have experience with obtaining and renewing licenses (either pharmacy or medical)
- Have experience with handling audits (both on-site and document) from a board of pharmacy, board of medicine, board of nursing, and/or health plan
- Have experience drafting and reviewing vendor contracts
- Have working knowledge of the ACA, HI-TECH, HIPAA, Stark law at federal and state level
- Have working knowledge in data privacy laws and regulations
- Have prior experience implementing a corporate compliance program in a regulated industry

- This role will assist the General Counsel in all legal issues in the company. Obtaining and maintaining insurance as well as regulatory compliance are top priorities of the company. This role is critical to success in those goals. This role should reduce outside counsel legal expenses.
