The Genetic Counseling Assistant works with a team of genetic counselors called Medical Science Liaisons (MSL). The Genetic Counseling Assistant provides administrative support and assists with quality control processes and communication with clients and patients, under the supervision of a Laboratory MSL.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides administrative support to the MSL Team.
- Provides support and helps organize workflow for MSL Team.
- Participates in notification of abnormal test results to clients as requested.
- Manages data collection for on-going quality assurance.
- Organizes patient and client related materials and documentation.
- Reviews test data and MSL documentation to ensure high quality service.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Genetics, Medical Technology, or related field.
- Coursework in genetics and laboratory experience with DNA is preferred.
- Interest in attending graduate school for Genetic Counseling is preferred.
- Knowledge of the field of genetic counseling.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to triage issues appropriately and understand when to escalate concerns.
- Excellent judgement and discretion.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.
- Detail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitude.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel. Ability to become proficient in new software programs rapidly.
- Strong grasp of molecular biology and genetics techniques and principles.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
