The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for successfully hiring and leading a team of Progenity sales professionals in the assigned region in order to meet or exceed regional sales targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Regional Sales Director to develop business plans based on sales goals, expectations and available resources, including regional strategies and tactics.

  • Recruits, selects, hires, and coordinates training of sales professionals within the designated region.

  • Meets regional sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

  • Provides weekly information/reports to the RSD regarding updates on any risks or opportunities within the region.

  • Effectively provides constructive feedback to sales professionals to help maximize their potential.

  • Spends a sufficient amount of time in the field with sales professionals to help them develop. Learns and assesses current market trends while in the field.

  • Maintains and expands customer base by counseling BDMs; builds and maintains rapport with key customers; identifies new customer opportunities.

  • Establishes strong collaborative relationships with other Progenity Departments, specifically Client Services, Marketing, and Billing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or life sciences required.

  • Advanced degree preferred.

  • 2+ years physician sales experience in diagnostic laboratory business (preferably in a genetics laboratory).

  • Demonstrated success in sales position and in training new sales staff.

  • Internal Candidates – 1+ year previous experience in Senior BDM/Senior Specialist position.

  • External Candidates – 1+ year previous sales management experience.

  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.

  • Detail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitude.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have a demonstrated successful sales track record, solid negotiation skills, understanding of buyer/decision maker types, exhibit effective selling, listening, and verbal/presentation skills, and ability to assess and respond to customer needs.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
