The Accessioning Technician is responsible for manually entering sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System and preparing samples for pick up.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Enters data into the Laboratory Information Management System.

Prepares and organizes written data, reports, and other documents.

Pre-sorts, pickup, and delivers processed specimens to the laboratory.

Prepares samples using automated or fixed volume measuring devices with licensed personnel supervision.

Adheres to quality control guidelines to ensure integrity of laboratory specimens and accurate data entry.

Assists the Client Services Department as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent.

2+ years of experience with data entry.

1+ years of experience with accessioning and specimen collection.

Ability to follow lab safety practices when working in the freezer or with hazardous materials.

Ability to maintain quality standards determined by the clinical laboratory.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekend hours.

Strong communication skills.

Must be able to handle a wide work variety in a fast-paced environment.

Must be a detail-oriented, organized self-starter with an ability to prioritize workload.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Outlook.

Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases.

Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems.
