Description
The Receptionist (Focus – patient check in) is responsible for welcoming patients, visitors, representatives and other customers by greeting and directing them in a friendly, prompt and helpful manner. The Receptionist will answer phones, respond to voicemails, ensure the completion of paperwork, sign-in and security (HIPAA?) procedures, and scheduling of patients. During the check-in process, the patient accounts are updated with current patient demographics, patient insurance verified, and copays and/or deductibles are collected.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Promptly answers the telephone using warm and friendly tone.
- Directs urgent calls to the nursing private line.
- Checks in patients and complete patient registration.
- Manage patient flow by providing timely check-in procedures upon arrival, notifying medical support staff of patient arrival with a superbill and patient chart.
- Instruct new patients to complete demographics, medical history, HIPAA and financial policy forms.
- Notify and promote the patient portal with the patients to make payments.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college preferred
- 1-3 years’ work experience in similar or related position or other office environment
