ICONIQ Impact has launched the Women’s Health Co-Lab, a collaborative philanthropy fund aiming to mobilize $100 million to improve health outcomes for women and girls globally. The initiative, created in partnership with Co-Impact, has secured over $70 million from founding donors including Melinda French Gates, Jennifer Gates Nassar, Phoebe Gates, and 14 other philanthropists.
The fund will support 22 organizations addressing health inequities across three focus areas: maternal health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender-based violence. Organizations will receive unrestricted funding over three years.
“The philanthropic sector faces a defining moment to reinforce its dedication to women’s health and rights,” said Matti Navellou, head of ICONIQ Impact. “And we’re encouraged to see so many philanthropists within our community partner thoughtfully to meet this moment.”
The Co-Lab addresses significant global health challenges. More than 800 women die daily from pregnancy and childbirth complications, with Black, Indigenous, women of color, and women in remote regions facing greatest risk. By 2030, an estimated 470 million women will lack access to sexual and reproductive healthcare if current progress rates persist. One in three women will experience violence in their lifetime.
“It is unacceptable that in 2025, women are still fighting the same battles for health and safety,” said Phoebe Gates, women’s health advocate and founder and co-CEO of Phia. “Yet these 22 organizations give us reason to believe change is possible.”
The maternal health component partners with six grantees including Every Mother Counts and the Maternal and Reproductive Health Research Collective to strengthen healthcare delivery systems, increase uptake through technology and community engagement, and build healthcare worker capacity.
Sexual and reproductive health efforts involve 10 organizations including Americans for Contraception and Girl Effect working to expand healthcare access, provide accurate information through media campaigns, and engage in policy advocacy across the Global South and beyond.
The gender-based violence focus supports six grantees including Serenas and Ujamaa Africa working to strengthen protective policies, shift patriarchal norms, support survivors, and empower adolescent girls.
“At its core, this collaboration is about trusting local leaders and resourcing their vision,” said Olivia Leland, founder and CEO of Co-Impact. “Together, this Co-Lab can strengthen maternal care systems, expand reproductive health access, and advance women’s safety and autonomy.”
ICONIQ Impact operates as the collaborative philanthropy platform of global investment firm ICONIQ, convening networks to address complex challenges including climate change, ocean protection, democracy, and gender inequity.
