Neura Health has secured $11.4 million in Series A funding led by the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Venture Fund, marking the fund’s first-ever investment. The round brings total funding to $22 million for the virtual neurology clinic addressing access gaps for patients with chronic neurological conditions.

Additional participants include Norwest Venture Partners, Koch Disruptive Technologies, Esplanade Ventures, Pear VC, Correlation Ventures, and E12 Ventures.

The New York-based company addresses a significant healthcare gap, as 145 million Americans live with neurological conditions while facing 4-6 month average wait times for neurologist appointments due to nationwide provider shortages. Neura provides virtual access to board-certified neurologists within seven days through a comprehensive platform combining video visits, AI-powered workflows, symptom tracking, and care coaching.

“Neura is pioneering a new standard of care for neurological conditions, many of which affect women disproportionately and often differently,” said Lisa Suennen, Managing Partner at American Heart Association Ventures. “Migraine, for example, affects women three times more often than men and those under age 45 who experience migraines with aura have an increased risk of ischemic stroke.”

The platform serves eight major condition categories including headache and migraine, epilepsy, chronic pain, concussion, stroke recovery, dementia, and undiagnosed neurological symptoms. Neura recently expanded into memory care, responding to the shortage of cognitive neurologists—currently one for every one million dementia patients.

Clinical outcomes published in peer-reviewed journals demonstrate a 73% reduction in emergency room and urgent care visits and a 66% increase in patients’ global impression of improvement through Neura’s treatment model.

“After struggling to find and manage care for my own chronic nerve pain, I saw firsthand the gaps in care that prevent millions of people like me from finding relief,” said Elizabeth Burstein, CEO and Co-Founder. “We’ve built Neura Health to bring the highest quality neurological care directly to patients across the country.”

The company has served over 43,000 patients nationwide, partnering with health systems like Sentara Health and maintaining in-network status with over 40 health plans including Aetna, Cigna, and Medicare. Neura is also aggregating one of the largest real-world evidence datasets in neurology, which has attracted interest from pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The funding will accelerate growth with payers and health systems, expand into new condition areas, and continue delivering comprehensive neurological support including integrated symptom tracking, personalized education, and medication management through the company’s HIPAA-compliant platform.
