Emagine Solutions Technology has partnered with FaceHeart to integrate contactless vital signs scanning technology into The Journey Pregnancy app, enabling pregnant women to measure blood pressure and other maternal health indicators using their smartphone cameras without additional equipment.
The company’s app now includes FaceHeart Vitals technology through a feature called “Vital View,” allowing users to capture six critical maternal health vital signs through a 50-second selfie video. The measurements include heart rate, blood pressure, respiration rate, oxygen saturation, heart rate variability, and stress index.
FaceHeart’s technology has received two FDA 510(k) clearances as Class II Software as a Medical Device, covering pulse rate measurement and respiratory rate measurement. The AI-driven algorithms process facial images in real-time before discarding them, with edge computing ensuring data privacy compliance with HIPAA standards.
The integration aims to address gaps in maternal care by providing health monitoring capabilities between office visits. Users can track maternal health trends over time within the app or share vital sign data with healthcare providers through EPIC integration, potentially helping identify pregnancy concerns including hypertension and preeclampsia before they become acute.
“This will give women and healthcare providers an opportunity to have visibility into and address common pregnancy concerns before they become acute,” according to the company’s announcement about the technology’s clinical applications.
Emagine Solutions Technology is offering the vitals scanning technology free throughout July 2025 as part of its mission to improve access to maternal health tools. The Journey Pregnancy app is available free through Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
The partnership addresses maternal health monitoring challenges where regular vital sign tracking can help identify complications early. Traditional blood pressure monitoring requires equipment and clinical visits, while the mobile-based approach enables more frequent monitoring from home.
FaceHeart’s contactless technology extracts facial images briefly during measurement, processes vital signs through medical-grade algorithms, then immediately discards the images. The approach combines convenience with privacy protection, addressing potential concerns about biometric data collection.
The Journey Pregnancy app positions itself as an AI-powered maternal health platform and remote patient monitoring solution designed to make pregnancy care safer and more accessible.
