The Client Services Representative/Phlebotomist must be result driven, solution-oriented, and can work cross functionally within the organization. The coordinator will manage the scheduling of mobile phlebotomy services, along with facilitating patient sample draw requests. This role will have dual focus on Client Services responsibilities and phlebotomy services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates, documents and prepare supply needs for all mobile phlebotomy requests.
  • Review, update and maintain location alerts to ensure accuracy within internal proprietary systems.
  • Maintains status of all service collection sites on the current collection locator.
  • Review and approve draw agreement invoices.
  • Responsible for collection of blood samples by venipuncture techniques and/ or urine collections on patients of all age groups.
  • Collects/processes requested tests in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and verifies sample receipt time.
  • Labels samples with label or bar code to ensure that all information on the sample matches that on the requisition.
  • Responsible for receiving specimens, assessing specimen integrity, verifying labeling and documentation and processing data entry of orders to ensure that patients are appropriately billed.
  • May perform centrifugation and prepare samples for transport to labs.
  • Demonstrates ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Makes recommendations to manager, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the clinic and Progenity.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Laboratory area.
  • Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans.
  • Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
  • Assists phlebotomy manager with administrative needs, daily checklists, metrics, ordering supplies, serving as a mentor to other phlebotomist.
  • Ensures phlebotomy supplies and patient health information is safeguarded at all times.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Completed a formal phlebotomy training course, may substitute equivalent work experience for formal phlebotomy training.
  • ASCP certification, preferred
  • 3+ years work experience
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty competently
  • Adhere to all applicable confidentiality requirements and Code of conduct set forth by the laboratory
  • Ability to demonstrate sound customer service skills Able to work in a high volume/fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and MS Windows applications (including Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Capable of a flexible work schedule, including overtime hours as needed
  • Must be able to interact with patients, Client Services, and sales team members in a responsible, professional and ethical manner
  • Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
