Innovation & Development Manager Downstream

Vyld develops radically sustainable, ocean-friendly and healthy products from seaweed. Our goal is to mainstream seaweed as a regenerative raw material of the future for a wide range of products. Our ‘Kelpon’, the world’s first tampon made from seaweed, is the first step. Additonal absorbent products, from baby diaper (‘Dyper’) to adult incontinence care, will follow – our ‘algaeverse’. Vyld’s R&D team is growing!
🌊 As Vyld’s Innovation & Development Manager Downstream you are in charge of the industrial production process and enable our algaeverse to become reality with your technical know-how, your idealism and a good pinch of pragmatism 🌊
● You are in charge of downstream process development and optimization for the industrial production of our Kelpon and other algaeverse products
● This makes you part of our four-person R&D team, which deals with the entire value chain from raw material optimization and science-based fiber development to the construction of our facilities
● You develop methods and concepts to ensure optimal quality, performance, consumer safety and sustainability
● In addition, you are responsible for documentation, also with regard to certification processes
● You use your technical know-how to combine the latest scientific findings with industrial requirements for a smooth process
Sounds interesting? You could become Vyld’s Innovation & Development Manager Downstream, if you
● ..have an apprenticeship or a degree in textile engineering (focus on nonwovens technology) or mechanical engineering, or
● knowledge and fundamentals from other relevant fields, such as biotechnology, materials science, polymer science, chemistry, physics or process engineering and have working experience with fibers and/or non-wovens.
● …see the “bigger picture” and still have an eye for detail.
● …have a comprehensive understanding of machines and love to work out their quirks.
● ..have none of the above but still good reason to think that you’re the perfect match for this role!
Nice-to-have, but not required:
● You are an expert on period products and have experience in R&D of tampons, pads and others
● You have previously accompanied and innovative product from idea to production

● Our working language is German, although as we work very internationally a lot is happening in English, too. If you feel comfortable in a mostly German speaking work environment, we will help you polish your German skills.
● We follow a needs-based salary system, with the goal of paying you what you need to clear your head to work for Vyld. As we are still in the beginning, the possible salary range is currently 2.500-4.000€ gross per month.
