Our street cred includes more than 12 awards for innovation and design, including the prestigious Red Dot Award and an IDA Design Award.
Our second innovation: Elvie Pump, the world’s first silent wearable breast pump, is making it possible for new mothers to pump anytime, anywhere. Elvie Pump has received international praise, including being listed as one of Times 100 best inventions in 2019 and ‘wearable design of the design of the year’ at the Dezeen Awards.
As a business, Elvie has received more than 30 awards, including being named as one of 15 startups “To Watch” by The Sunday Times, ranked as the 6th fastest growing business in the UK by SyndicateRoom in 2019. Tania Boler has recently been rated as the 8th most influential person shaping british technology in 2019 by Business Insider and both products have been featured in the Oscar Nominee Gift Bags. In April 2019, Elvie announced a $42 million Series B from IPGL, Octopus Ventures and Impact Ventures, bringing the total raised thus far to over $50 million. Our Series B represented the largest ever fundraise in Femtech. This new round of financing will accelerate Elvie’s research and development efforts, as well as help grow brand awareness and distribution for Elvie across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

What you will do
We are looking for a smart, ambitious and highly driven Head of Marketing, UK & Europe to join the Marketing team to lead marketing for the region. This role will balance driving our home market where Elvie has quickly become a household name and spearheading the launch of Elvie into 10 new markets in 2020 working in partnership with sales. You will be responsible for building the marketing strategy but will also be comfortable with getting your hands dirty and executing with the team. This will be the first leadership role for the region so you will have the opportunity to build and shape the team and you will lead a team of three to start. It’s important that you are self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, but most of all, not afraid to knock on doors or chase down opportunities. Elvie is a very fast paced start-up with big ambitions and we constantly strive to be smart, creative and disruptive so you will need to be confident working at a fast pace and love a challenge.
The Role Overview
Strategy and Plans
- Build, own and lead the UK marketing strategy for Elvie’s existing and future categories
- Build the UK marketing plan for each category, working in partnership with global internal functions to ensure your local needs across creative, social media, trade marketing, performance media and PR are supported.
- Build, lead and execute the launch of Elvie into 10 European markets via distributors working in partnership with the Head of Sales UK & Europe, PR, and (initially) with our Head of International Expansion. Focus these plans on PR, trade marketing and digital to drive awareness quickly
- Localize the global strategy across all markets and manage localization process across all channels – website, POS, social media, digital media, packaging and PR
- Sets the strategies and plans to meet or exceed UK & Europe / Corporate OKRs with a key focus on delivering the revenue, profit and cash flow targets.
- Our marketing plans are digital first so must be comfortable with building and optimizing effective digital strategies to drive full funnel campaigns.
- Review and analyze UK & European market and competitor trends in all categories and continue to drive an insight led plan
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work in partnership with UK sales lead to build and drive the UK distribution and retail plan, support with building Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and driving retail excellence with our partners
- Work in partnership with Head of Sales and the PR & Communications Manager, UK & Europe along with our key distributor contacts to launch successfully in 10 European markets
- Lead and drive PR, influencer and events agencies to drive commercial results via through-the-line marketing. The PR & Communications Manager, UK & Europe will report directly into this role but it should be a partnership approach
- Work closely with Global Marketing to ensure you are getting the support and tools to drive your markets agenda
- Work closely with Finance to stay on track for all financial KPI’s
- Work in partnership with operations and demand planning to ensure on track project management to support all makret launches
Building and Leading Teams
● The ability to attract and recruit top talent, motivate and coach a team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance; widely viewed as a strong developer of talent. Direct reports currently include digital and PR
Requirements:
- 8+ years’ experience across both local and regional roles, direct experience with European markets key and ideally experience partnering with distributors
- Fluency in at least one-non English European language desired.
- Experience in working with start ups is a plus
- Ability to lead a team including coaching and developing people
- Experience owning/running a category P&L and working with all functions across the business – sales/operations/finance to drive the category agendas.
- Experience in 360 NPD launch management – concept to execution
- Experience partnering and driving agencies across all marketing functions to achieve category and commercial objectives
- Experience working with sales teams to build out retail and trade marketing plans
- Digitally savvy, experience over seeing/driving/optimising full funnel media campaigns across all channels
- Go-getter attitude and commitment to driving forward conversations around women’s health and bodies
- Strong organizational and commercial skills
- Ability to travel frequently throughout Europe
