About the Role
The Director of Media Relations will play a key role in the ideation and execution of Ro’s storytelling with a particular focus on the healthcare beat. You’ll leverage your relationships with healthcare reporters and your experience developing story ideas to pitch and land stories in top-tier national news and healthcare publications. You will also draft key messages and prepare spokespeople and relevant internal/external stakeholders to ensure narrative alignment and consistency. The role goes beyond traditional channels (print, radio, broadcast) to include social media and other non-traditional storytelling platforms. This position reports to the VP of Communications.

What You’ll Do

    • Collaborate with others on the Communications team as well as teams across the company to identify story opportunities from within the business for Ro, Roman, Rory and Zero
    • Cultivate strong relationships with healthcare, healthcare business and healthcare policy reporters across digital/print, radio and broadcast
    • Work with executive team to create and implement media strategies tied to business objectives
    • Develop key messages and statements for both proactive and reactive media engagement
    • Draft messaging and content for internal and external channels
    • Media train company spokespeople
    • Work with Communications team members to monitor for media/social media coverage and determine appropriate engagement/response strategies

What You Bring to the Team

    • 8-10 years experience in media relations or media, with reporter relationships at top-tier national and trade outlets covering healthcare, healthcare business and healthcare policy
    • Proven track record of pitching/landing stories, cultivating reporter relationships, working with executives on story development and execution
    • Deep familiarity with healthcare news and an understanding of the industry and regulatory landscape
    • Well-versed in non-traditional storytelling platforms and social media
    • Experience writing internal and external-facing messages (statements, Q&A, talking points, leadership notes, remarks, etc.)
