The Role: 

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Demand Planner to join our Retail sales team.
The Senior Demand Planner for Sales will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of the sales demand forecast including changes both short term and long term, variance, accuracy and statistical models to inform long term planning. They will work closely with our retail brokers and directly with our retail customer contacts as the primary point of contact. Due to the highly internally cross-functional and externally facing nature of the role, a standout candidate will have a combination of rigorous, quantitative analytical rigor and persuasiveness/poise in their written and verbal communication.
This role will report to our VP of Revenue and is based in Los Angeles. We have a hybrid office policy with 2-3 days in our Venice Beach headquarters.


    • Be the retail lead/representative for S&OP and work alongside with our CFO from finance and Director of Supply Chain from our Ops team)
    • Create, communicate, and be accountable for all retail demand forecasts
    • Be accountable for forecasting accuracy, out of stock and other key retail inventory metrics
    • Present to brokers and upsell to our retailer partners as part of retail sales team when opportunities arise
    • Measure and forecast the impact of retail promotions and shopper marketing campaigns, proactively layering that into your demand forecast
    • Manage internal cross functional communications regarding retailer needs (e.g., across supply chain, retail, and finance) as well as be customer and broker facing
    • Build trust and relationships with our brokers and retailer partners (specifically inventory analysts and planners)
    • Review available POS and syndicated data, macro trends, competitive behavior, planned promotions, PO plans, and retailer inventory related to DC on hands, DC on withdrawal, DC on orders, and store level out of stocks to prepare monthly forecasts
    • Work cross functionally with retail sales, product development and supply chain to plan for successful product launches
    • Proactively address foreseeable business challenges with other teams and stakeholders

About You:

      • 6+ years of CPG experience with a minimum of 4 years in a demand planning/forecasting role
      • You have a top 5 list favorite Excel functions and describe yourself as not just proficient, but an expert in Excel
      • You default to and prefer picking up the phone (rather than emailing) to get a hold of counterparts (warehouses, brokers, customers) and drive projects forward or solve problems
      • Have curiosity and empathy for others use that to develop lasting relationships
      • Can tell compelling, persuasive stories with and without dataAbility to independently define problems, generate hypotheses, test, validate and communicate this to your teams
A strong plus if you have
      • Professional or academic background statistics, engineering, or mathematics
      • Proficiency in Tableau and other enterprise software like (e.g., OMS or ERPs)
      • Amazon forecasting, omnichannel, and/or startup experience

In 1 Month You Will:

    • Know our brand, products, and positioning
    • Understand previous demand models and S&OP inputs and outputs
    • Developed a point of view on how to improve forecasting accuracy and cross functional communication
    • Meet with our key retail partners & brokers, and work with S&OP stakeholders (supply chain, growth, finance, retail sales) to identify what’s working & what isn’t
    • Become primary point of contact for retail broker and smaller retail customers

In 3 Months:

    • Build credibility with your teammates by improving forecast accuracy and streamlining S&OP process/communication
    • Lead S&OP from the retail sales side
    • Be seen as the in-house expert on demand forecasts
    • Be primary point of contact for demand/inventory all broker and retailer relationships
    • Have built relationships and trust with broker and retailer customers for demand planning and inventory management purposes.
    • Establish JBP infrastructure for critical customers and brokers, including QBRs and annual planning

In 6 Months:

    • Have identified retail revenue expansion opportunities and alongside the retail sales & account management team have closed incremental revenue
    • Built out 2022 retail growth plan including a bottom-up forecast model based on identified channel and product mix strategy
    • Helped teach and embed better demand forecasting as a capability across the retail and broader Flex organization
    • Help evaluate Broker Partnerships and identify any gaps or changes required to support our future growth
